It is not a big
secret that it is hard for parents to deal with children's anxiety. Here you
are some recipes for dealing with an anxious child.
Focus on Relationships First
First of all,
focus on your relationships with your baby. Knowing your child feeling and
emotional status is more valuable than all other things. Chores and all routine
work can wait, first find out your baby emotions. Calm the baby and cheer him
up if he fells nervous.
Acknowledge What’s Hard for your baby and what is not.
Find out what is
hard for your baby and try to teach or explain him/her the hard things in plain
English. Cheer your baby up even if something is done absolutely wrong. Also
find out what is more interesting for baby, what kind of activities your
toddler does with pleasure. Focus on these things and remind these good ones to
your baby. Focus on positive moments.
Find and Celebrate the Joy
Latest
researches show that happy children are more successful in school life, they
learn better and understand material better than sad kids. Find time for your
kids to spend time with them. The most valuable time for your kids is the time
spend with parents.
Provide your child a Predictable Routine
Your child
should know what comes after one and another. The routine should be discussed
in previous day. For example, if you plan to visit a doctor tell this to your
child, that you will have an appointment. Describe the way your go and what do
you expect from your child (behavior). Child’s expectations should be clear and
routine should be familiar otherwise you will get not the best day in your
life.
Create New Rituals
The easiest way
to create new rituals is to do morning exercises. It can be simple dancing with
waving arms and jumping. And then you can add to this routine everything you
like. For example, reading, counting, making some paper projects whatever you
want or need. But firstly, tell about your plans to your baby. Physical
exercises or dancing can be done even in day time. It is nor obligatory to do
in the morning but the main idea is physical activity and then your desired
plans.
